The full review
The Field is the country's most generous natural history museum: 30 million specimens, an enormous main hall presided over by Sue and Maximo, and a permanent Inside Ancient Egypt exhibit that includes 23 mummies and a faithful replica of a Saqqara mastaba you can walk through.
Go on a weekday morning if you can. The main hall before 11 AM is one of the great free pleasures of the city, even before you've paid for entry.
