The full review
The Cloisters were built in the 1930s using stone from five medieval French abbeys, shipped to New York and reassembled on the high ground of Fort Tryon Park. The building feels older than anything actually in Manhattan should — the cloisters around the herb garden, the Romanesque chapel, the Unicorn Tapestries hanging in their own purpose-lit gallery.
Included on the Met's three-day ticket. Easiest from the A train to 190th.
